SUMMER CAMP SPOTLIGHT

The Musical Event of the Summer!

    CHARACTERS & CASTING INFO

    (60 Min Show)

Alex, the lion, is the star of Central Park Zoo. The King of New York City."  We are casting a great singer, actor, & magnetic quality of a showman. Gender: Any - Vocal range: A3-Eb5

Marty is a zebra with dreams of exploring beyond the Central Park Zoo and into the wild. Looking for a solid singer and actor with a sweet disposition who the audience will root for. Gender: Any - Vocal range: A3-D5

Gloria, the hippopotamus, is a bold young lady who shines when she's with her three closest friends: Alex, Marty and Melman. This a great part for a lead performer who can act, sing and serve as the caretaker of the group.

Gender: Female - Vocal range: Eb4-E5

Melman is a nervous, hypochondriac, giraffe. Looking for a performer who can sing well & has great comedic timing. Gender: Any - Vocal range: E3-Db5

The Penguins are a group of birds on a mission: bust out of the zoo and return home to Antarctica. Skipper serves as the captain of the group, always giving orders. Kowalski is second-in-command and a dutiful one at that. Rico is the brute of the group and can karate chop anything in sight. Private's primary job is to maintain their cute and fuzzy disguises. Looking for 4 excellent performers who are funny and work well together. Gender: Any

The Zookeepers introduce the crowds to all the sights and attractions of the Central Park Zoo. Zookeeper Zelda, Zookeeper Zeke and Zookeeper Zoe are perfect parts for excellent vocalists and actors who express excitement and passion for the animals. Zelda has a large solo in the opening, so we will cast an excellent singer in that part. Gender: Any - Vocal range: B3-G4

Mason is a chimpanzee with a bone to pick: though highly intelligent, his species seems to get a bad reputation for being simpleminded, and he takes that quite personally. This is a great acting role for a performer who can make bold choices from the get-go. Gender: Any

The Lemurs are a wild band of creatures native to Madagascar trying desperately to avoid being eaten by the cat-like creatures called the Fossa. King Julien is their leader and the perfect part for an excellent comedian who can sing, dance, act. Maurice is King Julien's assistant who is not welcoming to Madagascar's new inhabitants. Mort is the littlest of the Lemurs, who can barely speak, but it still able to be very funny.  Lynn, Lew, Lee and Lars are fun smaller roles for young actors with bold personalities. Gender: Any - Vocal range: A3-B4

The Foosa are cat-like predators with an appetite for Lemurs! The Fossa Leader is the biggest and baddest and is feared by most of the creatures in Madagascar. Looking for an excellent, larger-than-life actor. Gender: Any

Servers #1, #2 and #3 are imagined servers in Alex's dream when he starts to desire meat desperately! Looking for 3 excellent dancers who can sing and dance very well. Gender: Any - Vocal range: D4-D5

The Lionesses are a group of lady lions and Alex's background singers and dancers. These are great featured roles for dancers. Gender: Female

Cameraman, Candy Hammernose, Passerby, Old Lady, Police Officer #1 and #2, Animal Control Officers, Newspaper Man and Ship's Captain are all great cameo roles with speaking lines. Looking for interesting performers who can bring to life these colorful characters. Gender: Any (Some performers will have more than one part.)

New Yorkers and Animals are two separate ensemble groups that are essential for setting up the world of the Central Park Zoo. These groups are bold, specific and full of energy. They will kick off the show with a bang! Gender: Any

"My daughter has blossomed under Paige Beckman's direction. Not only have we seen a boost in her overall confidence, but we've seen how it's helped in her schoolwork (recitation, memorization and group participation) tremendously! Paige always fosters a warm, yet disciplined atmosphere where the kids learn, have a great time and make new friends!"

“Paige is one of the most engaging people I’ve ever met. She is highly skilled at clearly & creatively communicating a message.”

            MISSION

A theater company created by a mom who understands the unique needs of families.

Paige Productions Theater is an exciting place where kids & teens can find fresh performance opportunities in the Fountain Hills & Scottsdale areas. This company works under a limited rehearsal schedule allowing students to participate in theater year-round. This format allows them to participate in other shows, school activities, studio dance programs and sports, while prepping for a theatrical production.

"Paige Productions is a great place for BUSY KIDS!"

The flexible rehearsal schedule allows kids to travel with their family on breaks

and gets kids home early on school nights.

We are happy to work around other activities & shows as much as possible. Our goal is to provide performing arts opportunities for busy kids, and help young performers make up for lost time due to the pandemic.

Our 2021 Winter Break Camp was a blast. We worked on cold reads, improvisation, singing harmony, matching pitch, stretching and dance skills daily. We also enjoyed the incredible views and playground whenever possible. The kids also participated in karaoke fun, a New Year's Eve party, a Secret Santa gift exchange and a fun Storytime for the community.
